Joe was born May 14, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Joe Wallace Walser Sr and Grace Helen Whitten Walser and was raised in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1950, where he played on the golf team, winning three State Championships. He received a full scholarship to Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, where his team, coached by Labron Harris Sr, won several Conference Championships. Joe went on to win 25 amateur/professional tournaments, including the Oklahoma State Amateur and The Oklahoma Open. While in high school, he found the love of his life in Patricia Irene "Pat" Eubanks Walser, and they were married on June 7, 1953, in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Oklahoma A&M with a Bachelor in Education. Joe served in the U.S. Army at Ft Benning, Georgia, and Ft Riley, Kansas, as a 1st Lieutenant. I had the distinct pleasure of working for Mr. Walser at Lake Hefner Golf Course for seven years in the 60's. There was never a better time in my life. Joe and Pat mentored me, as well as all the other boys who worked in the shop, and taught me a work ethic that has stayed with me my entire adult life. We had great fun. The best "side job" was getting to baby sit Steve, Susie, and Jeff, as well as their cousins who lived across the street. I am saddened to hear of Joe's passing. I have many fond memories and still tell stories about the things he taught me! My sincere condolences to Steve, Susie, and Jeff and the entire family.

I worked for Joe for quite a few years and adored the man. He was kind and fair. Almost every day I'd say, "How are you doing this morning?" He would always answer, "Well, I'm upright!"

Hope you're playing golf, Joe!
