Judith Gailey Obituary

Sept. 23, 1943 - Nov. 8, 2011 NORMAN Judith Anne Gailey passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. She was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Victor Edward Gailey and Mary Jane (Corbin) Gailey. Judith received her Bachelor's from the University of Oklahoma, her Master's from the University of Delaware, and her Ph.D. in Education specializing in Developmental Learning Disabilities from the University of Arkansas. Judith started her teaching career in Okinawa during the late 1960's, retiring in 2011. Judith was a wonderful teacher and spent her time helping students who struggled with math from basic math to college algebra, patiently helping and inspiring thousands of students to get through the math courses they needed to earn their degree. Judith was an avid reader, and kept herself abreast of events in education and the world at large every day, in addition to indulging herself with crime and murder mysteries. Judith was a very warm, intelligent, patient, and passionate person. We were blessed to have such a beautiful person in our life. Judith is survived by her son's father, James Macdonald, one son, Ian Macdonald, and his girlfriend April Wages; two brothers, Gordon Gailey of Norman, Stephen Gailey and wife Vickie of Yuma, Arizona; one sister, Janet Phipps and husband Glen of Del Ray Beach, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011, with the family greeting friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., of Norman.Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Havenbrook Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery. Arrangements for Judith and her family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
