Kathryn Hirzel

Kathryn Vivian Hirzel, of Guthrie, OK, passed away July 6, 2010 from the arms of her loving family into the loving arms of her Lord. Kathryn was born August 30, 1911 in Edmond, OK to Amos and Catherine Fraim. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred R. Hirzel, Sr.; as well as five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her two daughters: Kathy Walter and husband Kenneth of Guthrie and Linda Smith and husband Ron of Oklahoma City, OK. Her life was blessed with five grandchildren: Kim Hinkle and husband Terry (Guthrie), Kevin Walter (Moore, OK), Tyler Smith and wife Leslie (Edmond), Courtney Bullard and husband Steve (Jenks, OK), and Kristi Blakemore and husband Kyle (Guthrie); as well as five great-grandchildren: Katelyn, Brody, and Hank Hinkle; Ellison Smith; and Francesca Bullard. Kathryn loved children and spent 37 years teaching in Deer Creek and Guthrie, with the majority of her years spent in Guthrie. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Guthrie, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2010, at Smith Memorial Chapel, Guthrie. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery.
