Leta Epperson Obituary

Jan. 28, 1944 - July 5, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY Leta Joy (Johnston) Epperson was born on Jan. 28, 1944, in Shidler, OK, the daughter of Cloise Jefferson and Frances Monroe (Owens) Jefferson. She completed this life at her home on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at the age of 74. Leta grew up in Ponca City, where she graduated from high school in 1962. She married Clifford Grant Epperson on Dec. 31, 1962, in Oklahoma City. In 1972, she and Cliff opened Epperson Photo-Video, which they operated in two different locations until their retirement in 2012. Leta was an avid perfume bottle collector and was an active member of the International Perfume Bottle Association. She was also an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sharon Helems. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Cliff; her daughter, Sonya Epperson, of Edmond; her brother, Jack Johnston and his wife Carol, of Newkirk, OK; and her brother-in-law, Garland Helems, of Ponca City, OK. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11 in the Vondel Smith Mortuary North Chapel, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd., with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 (www.omrf.org).
