Lorance Mitchell White, M.D. Funeral service for long-time Lawton resident, Dr. L.M. 'Larry' White, 81, will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 30, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Lawton, Oklahoma with Rev. Tom Willoughby, Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation will be Sunday July 29, 2007 from 6-8 pm at the Lawton Ritter Gray Chapel. Dr. White died on July 21, 2007 in Palm Desert Rancho Mirage, California due to Alzheimer's illness. Dr. Lorance White was born on September 24, 1925 in Tillman County, Oklahoma to William Atley and Dixie Ann (Gore) White. Lorance was reared in a farming community located between Frederick and Grandfield. A graduate of Victory School, and a graduate of the University of Oklahoma Medical School, he become a physician in 1947. Dr. White served as an Army doctor at Fort Sill, Brooke General, Fort Sam Houston, and St. Vincent's in Indianapolis. Lorance became established as a family physician in Lawton in 1952, where he was a devoted Lawtonian, a member of the Jaycee's, and a member of the First Baptist Church. Dr. White was a staff physician at Memorial and Southwestern Hospitals between 1952 and 1972. In 1963, Dr. White was the OSU Staff Physician in Stillwater. In 1972, Dr. White moved to Oklahoma City where he was medical director at the Adam's Clinic, and later in his career, served as C.M.O. for Oklahoma City Military Induction and later as a physician at the Lexington Prison. Dr. L.M. White received the honor of being awarded the Governor's Award for 50 years as an outstanding Oklahoma Physician. Lorance White was married to Patsy (Speir) White. She died on October 18, 2003. Their children are Barbara White of Palm Desert, California, Carol White, who died on September 21, 2005, and Larry White of Tulsa, Oklahoma. His grandchildren are Ashley White, Stanton White, Jessica White, Stewart White, Justin Williams, Brooke Yarbrough, and Kim Yarbrough; great-grandchildren, Natalia Williams, August Williams, Lauren Williams, and Taylor Koch; great-great-grandchildren, Brasen Trusty and Brielle Trusty; cousins, Charles Black, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, Nadine (Bartley) Walker, of Hess, Oklahoma, Mary Ellen (Wearmouth) Grose of Tipton, Oklahoma, Don Wearmouth, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dale Briscoe of Tipton, Oklahoma, David Gore, of Norman, Oklahoma, Marcy (Gore) Coats of McKinney, Texas, Barbara Anderson of Scottsdale, Arizona, Nelson Pickrell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Phyllis Wheeler of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Pat Barnes of Cordell, Oklahoma; and an aunt, Janice Gore of Tipton Oklahoma.
