Our Loving Max Joe

On July 22, 1952

Max Joe came into this world

To be with me and you.

He was the one and only big brother,

Who seemed to know all.

And if we had a problem,

He was the one to call.

Max was the best,

There's no doubt about that.

He would be at your rescue,

At the drop of a hat.

One of his favorite things to do,

Was to watch his grandsons play ball.

To those three boys,

He was an out-of-this-world Pa-Pa.

He always amazed us with his impressive golf game,

We will have to admit that the golf course without him,

Will never be the same.

Max was the liveliest man,

That we ever saw.

Especially when it came to sitting in front of the television,

Watching and cheering for OU football.

In this town of south Oklahoma City,

Max Joe was very well-known.

Everyone loved and admired him,

And it definitely was shown.

As a son to Jerry,

He was a strong and astonshing young man.

Jerry, being so proud of his oldest son,

He was, no doubt, his number one fan.

Max was devoted to his job,

As an Oklahoma City Police Officer.

He was a loving husband,

And an awesome and never-forgetting father.

No matter what,

He is a hero in everyone's eyes.

He was always there for us,

Through the good and even the bad times.

It's going to be hard without our Max Joe,

The question we all have is:

Why did you have to go?

Why was it your time only at age 53?

I guess Bubby and God had a better place

They wanted you to be.

We will miss you extremely,

Our unforgettable Master Sgt. Max

But don't you worry,

We will always remember the great memories you left us with,

from the past.

Love, your niece, Tara

To my family, friends and people who have written in this guestbook. Thank you all for all of the prayers and comfort everyone provided to my family during the past few weeks. My brother lived life the way he wanted to, he loved to laugh but when it came to protecting the streets of OKC - that is something he took very serious and did with pride. I will never forget the services of yesterday. Although this is probably by far the sadest thing I've ever gone through, it makes me feel better knowing that SO MANY people love my brother and my family. I know he is on the golf course in Heaven with my mom and his relatives and friends that went to Heaven to wait his arrival. He was a fantastic big brother to me and my sister, a wonderful and loving son to my dad, my mother and Mary and I don't think a day went by after the death of our mother that he didn't tell her he missed her and what was going on with our children. John and Sam, he loved you more than life itself and I know he had found his soulmate in Cheryl. Thank you for all of your support during this.

Max you were a wonderful husband, father and papa. My heart aches to know that I will never hear your voice or see your smiling face. You should always say and express what you want to today because tomorrow may never come. It makes the pain easier to know just truly how many lifes you touched. Love you with all my heart and soul your wife Cheryl.

Max was a good cop and more importantly, a good man. I got to know him when I attended U.S. Grant. He was more than just our security, he was a positive role model that touched my (and I know many others) life.

It was sad to hear of your loss. Sgt Blumenthal was always fun to be around (even as a student of USG). He was a great man in my opinion, and I am glad to have known him even in the capacity that I did.

Ms. Blumenthal and family, I want to send my heart filled condolences to you. God bless.

To the entire Blumenthal Family,

It sadens me to think that Max will no longer be with us but it was a true honor to be one of his friends. Growing up with Max (mainly on the golf course) was a true pleasure. We spent countless hours together playing golf in high school, college and the Oklahoma City Foreball Tournament. Later, I was lucky enough to spent a few years with him while he was the campus police officer at our beloved US Grant High School. We will miss Max very much but his memories will live with us forever.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, Encourage one another and build each other up.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all you.

I was so sad to learn of Max's death. I had the pleasure of working with him at the airport (many moons ago). I left the aiport to go to work for the police department where he soon followed. I have been gone from there many years but I will always remember Max's laughter and great smile. He was always a kind man. I am so sorry for your loss.

I was so sorry to hear that Max passed away. I have so many memories of him coming into the hospital ER as a police officer. He was always so nice to us and we will cherish his memory. I enjoyed taking care of him in the ER at SW and was so shocked at his death. I remember his wave and pretty smile as he left the ER to go upstairs to his room. He'll be missed. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It is with sadness that I learned of Max's death. I first met Max when I was assigned to the Traffic Division in 1984. We shared many lunch and coffee breaks and Max was a heck of a guy. The last time I saw him was a just a short time ago at a retirement party for another officer. As Max was always smiling, Max and his smile will be greatlyl missed. Our prayers will be with the family and may God Bless and Keep all his family.

Our sincere sympathies and prayers are with Cheryl, John and Sam today.

We enjoyed having Max as our friend. We will miss him.

We found that he lived life to the fullest.

The last time we talked to Max he was with his grandkids and so were we. He sure loved those boys! He sure loved all of his boys! His eyes twinkled when he spoke of them...yes, Max's eye twinkled!

Max's family gave him a lot of joy and pride.

John and Sam, you should be proud of how much you meant to your Dad.

What a great legacy Max leaves in you.

We are very proud to have called him our friend.

We are here when you need us. We love Max's boys and grandkids, too.
