Milton Roemer Obituary

Milton Harry Roemer, 61, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on October 28, 2001, after a seven month battle with cancer. Milton was born on August 10, 1940 in Floresville, Texas to Oscar and Ida Roemer. He graduated from Texas A&I in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science, and received a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1964. Despite his Aggie tendencies to her Sooner preferences, he married Jane Burwell on December 7, 1968, and they raised two daughters with much love. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, coaching his daughters' softball teams, listening to Rush Limbaugh, talking with his neighbors, greeting at First Baptist Church, and serving on the Edmond Parks Board for several years. He was a member of the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers, and retired from longtime employment at Kerr McGee Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Jane Burwell Roemer of Edmond; daughter Michelle Roemer of Edmond; daughter Marne Roemer of St. Louis, Missouri; brother Alan Roemer and wife Carrie, brother Clarence Roemer and wife Shirley, sister Jeanette and husband Gary Wegman, all of Floresville, Texas; mother-in-law Mildred Burwell, sister-in- law Gwen Cline. brother and sister-in-law Bill and Wanda Burwell, all of Rufe, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Frontier Hospice, 3908 N. Peniel., 5th floor, Bethany, OK 73008, or to the American Cancer Society. The family will receive visitors at Baggerley Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on October 30, 2001. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, at Rufe Baptist Church in Rufe, Oklahoma, with burial in Rufe cemetery.
