Opal Carroll Obituary

Opal Lorene Carroll, beloved wife and mother, was born on May 26, 1917, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Grady and Lottie Ruth Hopkins, and was raised in what was then known as 'the oil patch' of Oklahoma and Texas. She was active for many years in Draper Park Christian Church, Capitol Hill Christian Church, Day Spring Church, and since moving to Edmond, a faithful member of First Christian Church of Edmond. She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Carroll; and her two children, Margaret (Maggie) Hamrick and Robed G Carroll, II, along with their spouses, David Hamrick and Jean Carroll; and also by her sister, Irene Owens in Ames, Iowa. In her path Home with the Lord, she was preceded by her parents, an infant brother, Grady, Jr., and sister, Virginia Hinnant. She was immensely proud of her eight grandchildren, Alan Hamrick of Dallas, Texas, Eric Hamrick of Anaheim, California, Blaine Hamrick of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Kyle Hamrick of Houston, Texas, Stacy Logan of Oklahoma City, Brian Carroll of Oklahoma City, Jeff Crane of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Brian Crane of Waco, Texas. She also loved all of her fifteen great grandchildren, two of whom were born within the last two weeks. She will be forever remembered and loved. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., in the First Christian Church of Edmond, with burial following in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Services are under the direction of the Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Matthews Funeral Home Locally Owned 601 S. Kelly, Edmond 341-2787
