PAUL BEESLEY Obituary

Beesley, Jr.Aug 5, 1966 - Dec 6, 2012 NORMAN Paul Byron (Sonny) Beesley, Jr., beloved son, brother, father, photographer, and film maker, died unexpectedly December 6, 2012, in Oklahoma City. Sonny was born August, 5, 1966, to Paul and Earlene (Parker) Beesley in Baltimore. Sonny was a blessed gift and a source of joy to his family and to the wide circle of friends and colleagues touched by his life. He attended elementary school in Moore before moving to Washington and Dibble H.S., where he played all sports, especially football for his father, Paul Beesley, Sr. He graduated Moore H.S. 1985 and the University of Oklahoma in 1990 with a degree in Journalism. From 1991 to 2001, he was a news photographer at OETA, KFOR and KOCO. In 1993, he earned an Emmy for the documentary, "Faces of AIDS."Remaining to cherish the memory of Sonny's life are: children, Hannah, Jack, and Will, and their mother, Stephanie Beesley, of Norman; mother, Earlene Parker, of Tahlequah; parents, Paul Beesley, Sr. and Francy Beesley, of OKC; siblings: Cindi Finneran-Reeves and spouse Charlie Reeves, of Norman; Amy and spouse Major Mike Nelson, of San Diego; Mariah Shanahan, of Oregon; and Bradley Beesley, of Austin; grandmother, Margaret Parker, of Tecumseh; cousins: Bambi Kilgore, of Coweta; Robin and Scott Hurley, of Edmond; Kelly and Marilynn Beesley, of Dallas; John McMahan, of Edmond; Mariah and Chad Munn, of Shawnee; and Carly Danker, of Shawnee; aunts and uncles: John and Candace Beesley, of Dallas; Stanley and Dr. Denise Beesley, of Norman; Martha and Tony Vaughan, of Choctaw; John Nide, of OKC; Charles and Susan Nider, of Choctaw; Wayne and Mary Gosney, of Yukon; Gloria Dowling, of Edmond; and Billie Sue Byers, of Yukon; nieces and nephews: Kaylee, Ian, and Alice Finneran, of Norman; and Justin Nelson, of San Diego; great-niece, Addie Grigsby, and great-nephew, Parker Gasiewiecz. A musical tribute for Sonny will be held Sunday, December 9th at The Deli of Norman, 12:30 to 4:00. A memorial service will be conducted at Tecumseh H.S. Alumni Building Monday, December 10th, 2:00, under the direction of Dr. Bradley M. Walck. Sonny will be laid to rest at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Galen and I are truly saddened by Paul's death. Paul was a wonderful person, and we spent many days working on stories together at KFOR and talking about everything under the sun. I will miss Paul's kind heart and keen sense of humor. My sympathy to his lovely family. Tara Blume

I went to high school with Paul, I was one of the twins. He life was cut too short. My thoughts are with the family at this time.
