REGENA WALSH Obituary

May 13, 1964 - April 30, 2012 EDMOND Regena, 47 years of age, born on May 13, 1964 lost her courageous and hard fought battle with cancer on April 30, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. While the cancer broke her body, it never dampened her spirit. Regena was preceded in death by her mother, Nadine, and her father, Charles McNeill. She is survived by her loving husband, Micky, her daughter, Morgan, her sisters, Dena McNeill, Susan Rear, and Holly Brown, her brother, Mark, step-mother, Gean McNeill, mother-in-law, Betty Walsh, sister-in-law, Sheila Ehlers, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law. Regena was born in Woodward, Oklahoma, the third child of Charles and Nadine McNeill. The family moved to Enid, Oklahoma. Charles later married Gean where Regena and Dena were joined by Gean's children, Susan and Holly, forming a lifelong friendship. Regena later moved to Stillwater and attended Stillwater High School and Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1987. It was during this time of her life that she acquired an undying love of the color orange, much to the chagrin of her husband, who was a University of Oklahoma graduate. Regena attended the University of Oklahoma, School of Law, graduating in 1990. She practiced law in Oklahoma City until her death. During her practice she earned the respect and love of the people that she whole-heartedly represented. She will be remembered as a staunch advocate for her clients, but a fair and honorable attorney to her opponents and the judges that she appeared before. People that knew her will always remember her spirit and a smile that could light up a room. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Regena had an ability to make any person she met feel that they had her full attention and that they were special in her eyes, which they were. Regena loved any activity that involved her friends and family. She was an avid scuba diver and had many special friends who shared her love for the deep. She also loved flying with her husband and spending time boating and relaxing with friends at Grande Lake. She was a consummate cook, loving to prepare feasts for all who would attend. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all of those who knew and loved her. Regena's family and friends will celebrate her life during a memorial ceremony at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.

A great lawyer, and a great lady. She showed tremendous courage to enjoy the good days, and accept the others in her journey through her last days .
Our lives have been blessed by her presence, but wounded by her early passing .

Regena's spirit and beautiful smile, which indeed did light up the room, will always hold a special place in my heart. I am one of those people to whom she gave her full attention and who was made to feel special by her, particularly when I first moved to Oklahoma City and we began working together many years ago. She willingly and enthusiastically helped me get started and made my life so much easier with all her knowledge, kindness, and by just being herself. I had the good fortunate of enjoying some of her delicious cooking. She was a wonderful person, dear friend, and admirable attorney. Though her life was much too short, she has left her marks of joy and happiness on those who knew her. I am blessed to be one of those people. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers go out to Micky, Morgan, and the other members of her family at this difficult time.
