REX CARMICHAEL

October 21, 1935 - July 25, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Rex Randell Carmichael, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born October 21, 1935 at the Polyclinic of Oklahoma City. He was the son of Rex Randell Carmichael, Sr. and Iris Lucille Williams Carmichael. He met Jesus, his Lord and Savior, face-to-face on July 25, 2012 at the age of 76. Rex attended grade school in Yukon, with the exception of second grade in Shattuck, Oklahoma, and graduated from Corn Bible Academy in the year 1954. He spent his adult life in various aspects of the used car industry, opening his first car lot in 1956, an auto salvage in 1963, and a car lot in Bethany, Oklahoma in 1968. He "retired" in 2011 but was still doing what he loved - buying and selling cars - until just days before he passed. Rex served his country in the United States Air Force Reserve in the late 1950's and early 1960's. He was a member of the Yukon Kiwanis Club for more than twenty years and served as President of that organization in the 1970's. He was President of the Advisory Board of Mental Health for Canadian County in the late 1970's. He was Chairman of the Board of Elders of the Springdale Alliance Church in Oklahoma City from 1969 to 1976. He was a member of the OK Chorale for the past twenty years and also served as President of that organization for a time. Rex married Berniece Evelyn Reimer in the year 1958 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, while performing his military service. He is survived by his bride of 54 years, Berniece Carmichael, the love of his life; daughters, Lucinda Kay Carmichael of Oklahoma City, and Karen Denise Carmichael McGinty of Jones; special friend, Sabrina Johnson; son-in-law, Keith McGinty; grandsons, Mason Keith McGinty and Matthew Randell McGinty; and granddaughters, Molly Katherine Xia McGinty and Mia Kay Hui Na McGinty; sister, Elizabeth Jane Rice of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Larry S. Rice of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; and niece, Erin Elizabeth Kramer and her husband Joseph, of Sewickley, Pennsylvania. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Randell and Iris Carmichael. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Metroplex Church of the Nazarene in Yukon, Oklahoma. Interment is at the Yukon Cemetery. Visitation with family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, at Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, Oklahoma.
