ROBERT DOONKEEN Obituary

Robert Lee Doonkeen
Aug. 4, 1945 - Jan. 28, 2021

OKLAHOMA CITY
Robert Lee Doonkeen entered his Heavenly home January 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 4, 1945 in Oklahoma City to Servellon Doonkeen and Lola Grace Doonkeen (Lopez). He grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1963 where he lettered in wrestling. At Capitol Hill he would meet the love of his life, Nancy Lewis, who he would marry in April 1966. During the next 54 years together, they were blessed with three beautiful daughters and seven grandchildren. Robert proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army where he was with the 101st and 82nd Airborne. During his service time he was on the Army boxing team. After getting out of the Army, he worked with his family running several A&W Root Beer franchises, and later the Oklahoma Tax Commission until retiring in 2014 after 15 years of service. Never one to stay idle, Robert spent the last seven years working with his dad, brother and sister running another family business, the RoadRunner RV Park. Robert loved the Lord and he continued to show that until the end. He raised his family at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, where he and Nancy have been members for the past 35 years. He was a long time car enthusiast and an active member of the GMC Motorhome Club. His other hobbies included golfing, going dancing with his wife, taking long walks, but most of all, spending time with his family & playing with his grandkids. He was preceded in passing by his parents Servellon and Lola Doonkeen; his infant brother Daniel and infant sister Gloria Jean; and grandson Grant Michael Simpson. Those left to continue his legacy include his loving wife, Nancy Doonkeen; children, Monica Doonkeen, Dominique "Nicki" and husband John Kichan, Yvette and husband Michael Simpson; brother, Ray Doonkeen; sister, Yvonne and husband Eddie Gomez; and grandchildren, Mason Doonkeen, Zachary Kichan, Ava Simpson, Christian Simpson, Cruz Kichan, Lola Simpson, and Zavier Kichan. A Rosary Service will take place at the Chapel at Resthaven at 6:00pm, Thursday, February 4, 2021. A Celebration of Life will take place at 10:00am, Friday, February 5, 2021, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
