Ronald Wright Obituary

Wright, MD April 21, 1944 - Oct. 17, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Husband, Dad, Cookie, DoctorAfter his long and courageous battle Dad simply could fight no longer. While it seemed there was nothing he couldn't accomplish, he could not beat this. Surrounded by family and friends Dad went to be with the Lord. He is no longer in pain and now has a healthy body, probably stepping up to the number one tee box to try it out. Dr. Wright grew up in South Oklahoma City, son of Earl and Maxine Wright. He attended Southeast High School where he met the love of his life, Neta. Dr. Wright knew from an early age that he wanted to be a physician and help others. After attending OU for his undergraduate work, he applied and was accepted to OU College of Medicine. He completed medical school a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He was a Lieutenant Commander and a Vietnam Veteran in the US Navy, and after completing his service to his country, Dr. Wright opened his private practice in South Oklahoma City and practiced for nearly 40 years. Dad often joked that as long as he could be wheeled into the operating room he would continue to practice. He was devoted to his patients, and believed in being there for them. Even when he was going through treatment, he managed the courage to put on that headlight and get to work until the very end. It broke his heart when he had to stop practicing medicine. Even until the very end he said just take me to work and let me pass there. Dr. Wright leaves behind his loving friends and family. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church located at 1001 NW 25th, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. Dr. Wright performed two surgeries for me. He was the BEST and took the time to make you feel so special as a patient. I'm very saddened to discover his passing. Condolences to his family. ❤

I can't believe it's almost been a year since we lost Dr. Wright. I still think of him often, with the sweetest memories. I knew him for about 25 years and the last 10, I worked with him a couple of times a week. He was so kind to me and taught me so many things. I admired him and considered him a friend. I will never forget him. He is just one of those special people that stays in your heart forever. One of my favorite memories was on my birthday. We had worked together all that day, and after the cases were done, and Dr. Wright had left, I was paged and told to go outside because Dr. Wright wanted to tell me something. I went outside and Dr. Wright was in his car, he handed me a Trapp candle and said "Happy Birthday". He had left the surgery center, gone to his office and brought the candle back to me. In the ten years that I had worked at that surgery center, no other doctor had done anything like that. I was deeply touched that he was so considerate and kind. I hope to see him again some day in Heaven. My deepest Best Wishes for Steve, Neta, and the rest of the family that I know misses their "Cookie". You are still in my prayers. Love, Tana

My condolences to Dr. Wright's family. I started calling on Dr. Wright 25 years ago and he always provided me with a teaching experience, a laugh, and a challenge! I respected him so much that I brought my family to him as patients. He will be greatly missed.

I went to Dr. Wright for only a short time, but I remember him the first time he walked into the room. He asked what I was in there for and I told him. I was impressed that he had pictures of Brooks Mosier in his waiting room and knew he "must be a good man" if he knew Brooks. Dr. Wright had a sense of humor, but I wasn't feeling that wonderful and wondered why I didn't think most of it was funny. Now I know he wasn't well and was treating me ! My sincere thoughts and prayers are with your family. May God comfort you today.

Sincerely,
Diana Long

I worked for Dr. Wright for many years in the allergy clinic. He was a wonderul doctor. He had a great sense of humor and he was a very good-hearted man. Dr. Wright was rarely incorrect about anything, but every now and then, you could hear him say "Dr. Wrong this time." Then he would just smile. I have thought of him often over the years; when I picture him, he always has that headlamp on. He will surely be missed. My deepest sympathy..........Pam

I worked with Dr. Wright for many years, and he was, without exception, one of the sweetest men I've ever met. Not only did I respect him immensely, but I cared for him deeply. I was so very saddened to hear of his passing, my heart truly goes out to his family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Dr. Wright was really remarkable, I know he will be missed by probably the thousands of people he touched during his life.
With love and many thoughts, Tana Shepherd Wagner
