Roy Dalziel Obituary
Roy Benjamin Dalziel died on March 24, 2003. He was born July 12, 1925 in South Wilmington, Illinois, the son of Benjamin Roy and Ada Christenson Dalziel, both deceased. He grew up in northern Illinois and graduated from East High School in Rockford, Illinois. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps Cadet Program, graduated as a second lieutenant and was a navigator on the B-17's and the B-29's. After being discharged from the military, Roy went to Beloit College where he majored in Economics, played on the golf team and served as President of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. After graduation, Roy spent two years at Beloit College working as an Admissions Counselor before joining Sundstrand Corporation as a Field Service Representative. There, he ultimately became Customer Service Manager with a field service organization that covered all the world's major airlines. During this period, a few years were spent ranching and raising Registered Polled Hereford Cattle. Roy left Sundstrand Corporation to join Dean Witter Reynolds as a stockbroker until he retired in 1989. Roy and his wife, Mai (deceased), loved to travel and to play bridge. They did both by taking 35 cruises where they served as lecturer and directors of the onboard bridge games. Through the years, Roy was a member of numerous organizations, such as the Optimist Club, the Rotary Club and the Oklahoma City Executives Association. He is survived by his first wife, Patricia Swann Dalziel; two sons, Daniel Dean Dalziel, his wife, Shari Beezly Dalziel and their son, Dustin Daniel Dalziel, and their daughter, Tara Christine Dalziel; and Lawrence Craig Dalziel, his wife, Allison Smith Dalziel and their daughter, Elizabeth Molyneaux Dalziel, and their son, Alexander Blair Dalziel. Roy is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Dalziel Thomson of Rockford, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Crown Heights United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.
