STANLEY BURLESON Obituary

Feb. 9, 1931 - June 14, 2017In Loving MemoryStanley Ray Burleson was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Denver, CO. He departed this life on June 14, 2017, to be with his Heavenly Father at his home, surrounded by family. He and his parents lived in Wyoming and Kansas before moving to Pocasset, OK. He attended the Friendship School before transferring to Pocasset school, where he met the love of his life, Patsy Robertson. They later married on Dec. 19, 1948, while he attended Phillips University. He then graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1952. While there, his son, Jerry Bruce, and daughter, Sharon Kay, were born. Daughter Mary Kathleen was born later in San Antonio. After graduation, Stanley worked as a salesman before starting Burleson Pump Co. He loved his work and meeting and making many lifelong friends. Retiring in 2000, he spent his days hunting, fishing, woodworking, studying history, and attending Civil War Round Table. He was a member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church for 57 years, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School, giving the glory to God. Stanley was an avid Christian and witnessed to everyone everywhere he went. He had a great love for Western and Bluegrass music, which he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren; he also loved teaching them the art of fishing. Most of all, Stanley loved spending time with his family, teaching them about life, and encouraging them in their endeavors. Stanley was preceded in death by son, Jerry Bruce; and parents, Ray and Margaret Burleson. He is survived by wife, Patsy; daughters, Kathy and Sharon & husband Steve; grandchildren, Sydney, Stephanie, Jeremy & wife Alayna, and Keith & wife Josie; and great-grandchildren, Allyssa, Lennon, Henry, and Cassius. This year would mark Stanley and Patsy's 69th anniversary. Their love knew no bounds and was an example for those around them. Stanley will be missed by all who knew him because he, like Will Rogers, never met a man he didn't like. Farewell dear heart, your family will miss you and your special kind of humor. Until we meet again.
