Tracey Burdick Obituary

Tracey June Burdick, 87, died peacefully on December 31, 2006. The daughter of Tracey and Joseph Spencer, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Burdick, and brother, Donald Spencer. She has three daughters, Tracey, Lynn and Susan Burdick; and two grandsons, Cary and Neil Virtue. A graduate of Classen High School, she studied journalism and the classics at Oklahoma University. She was a stewardess for American Airlines in the mid-forties. A long time resident of Oklahoma City, she brought her creativity and resourcefulness to many civic, charitable and cultural efforts, including Presbyterian Hospital, the Oklahoma Art Center, and Camp Fire Girls. A member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she was also an active Kiwi, Pi Beta Phi alumnus and enjoyed her lunch bunch. One of her fondest memories was her home on Grand Boulevard. We will miss her smile, wit, and positive outlook. Thank you, mom. And thanks to everyone, especially Larry Staton, who helped make her life and passing so gentle, rich and full. Since June always wanted to 'cancel winter' and did not want a formal service, family and friends hope to gather for a celebration of her life this spring. Arrangements for her cremation are being handled by Hahn-Cook. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Oklahoma City Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition.

My deepest sympathy to all Mrs. Burdick's family and friends. I heard wonderful stories about her life, her wit, and her interest in unusually clever toys and gifts. I would have loved meeting her.
