WANA BRITTON Obituary

Sept. 29, 1940 - Jan. 27, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Wana, 73, entered the Kingdom of God on Jan. 27, 1959 and left this world on Jan. 27, 2014 never leaving the Kingdom of God. She was born Sept. 29, 1940 in Chandler, OK to Carl & Margie Greenfield. She graduated from Shamrock High School and later moved to the OKC area in 1958. On Jan. 27, 1959, Wana was baptized into the Church of the First Born faith in OKC at Colby's Pond. She remained a faithful & active member of the church until her passing. She attended business school for a short time before falling in love and marring Sonny Britton on Nov. 5, 1965. Together they shared nearly 40 years of marriage until his passing in Oct. 2004. Wana truly exemplified the attributes of a Proverbs 31 woman. Wana dedicated her life to finding ways to bless others in anyway possible. The Lord multiplied her endless efforts beyond measure and she was able to help so many throughout her life whether it was showing hospitality to those in need, being a nurturing caregiver for the sick & dying, being a midwife to mothers & newborns, or fulfilling needs of her family & church. Known for her excellent cooking & skilled sewing, Wana also enjoyed traveling. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother and loyal friend, who will be deeply missed. Wana left a tremendous legacy for us all to carry on. Preceded in death by her parents & husband, Sonny Britton. She leaves behind her loving children: Kimberly Dawn Britton, Christian Todd Britton & wife, Paula, Justin Reed Britton & wife, Ashley, Robin Jo Greenwood & husband, Billy, and Cache Anthony Britton & wife, Candis; twin sister, Dona Greenfield; sister, Shirley Roberts; brother, Carl "Rusty" Greenfield; 11 grandchildren, Whitney, Cade, Macenzie, Cain, Brooks, Lucky Jo, Slade, Cooper, Will, Diesel and Bryce; and many other loving family & friends. Viewing will be 4-8 PM, the family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday at Vondel Smith Mortuary, South Lakes. Services to celebrate her life will be 10:00 AM Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the Parkland General Assembly & Church of the First Born with burial following at the Parkland Cemetery. Chris, Paula, Slade, Bryce, and all the Britton Family: We are so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mother, mother in law, grandmother, sister, aunt or whatever she was to you. She was a very sweet lady and my sister Paula loved her too. I know you will truly miss her and especially know that her twin sister Dona will greatly miss her as well, but she is with Sonny again now and they are both happy again and waiting for all of you to come home with them someday. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we say again, so sorry for your great loss.

Dear Family,
It was my honor to know Wana. I grew up in Shamrock and went to school with her.
She was a fun person and I know you will miss her dearly. Just think of how much she is enjoying being with Jesus every day. You can always look forward to being with her again one day.
May God bless you and give you peace during this time.
