James Shumar Obituary
LA GRANGE
James "Jim" Andrew Shumar, age 85, of La Grange, Ky. went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025.
He was born to the late James A. And Margaret Hubicheck Shumar on July 21, 1940, in East Millsboro, Pennsylvania.
Jim was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and involved in the American Legion Post 39. He was passionate about his Pittsburg Steelers and had a patriot's heart, proud to be a US Army Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Celeste Marie (Paquin) Shumar; and siblings, Margaret Johnson and John Shumar.
Left to cherish the memory of Jim are his children, Bill Shumar (Josie) and Joyce DiLonardo (Marc); grandchildren, Jon (Monique), Angelo, Chelsea (Ben), Nick, Christen, Cassie and Stephen; great-grandchildren, Beckham, Morgan, Ainslee and Evelyn; and extended family and friends.
A Funeral Mass for Jim will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 N 5th Ave. in La Grange, on Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, at 11a.m. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Ky. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the start of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Jim's name to the American Heart Association.

Knew Jim from helping manage 2 of the carwashes there in Lagrange. We both served in Vietnam as infantrymen (different units/Divisions) and had a few stories to exchange with one another. The last time I saw him was at Lowe's where he was working part-time. If he saw a customer making a mess at the car washes, he'd surely remind them that it wasn't a landfill !! Rest in peace, Jim.
