Mort Brashears passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021. Mort was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church and a retired insurance agent and former partner at Greenspan Robertson Insurance Agency in Chattanooga, Tenn. While living in Tennessee for almost 40 years, he always said he didn't live there long enough to become a Volunteer fan. Mort loved the University of Kentucky all his life growing up in Frankfort and Hopkinsville. He loved playing golf at Battlefield Golf Course and especially with all those in the Springdale bunch.
Preceding him in death was his wife of 45 years, Marcia Moody Brashears; his son, Matt Neal; parents, E.M. and Mattie Brashears; brothers, Mac Brashears and Fred Brashears; and sister, Jo McClain.
Survivors include his daughter, Julie Berry (Dale Sr); brother, Bob Brashears (Phyllis); grandchildren, Dale Jr (Melanie) and Brandon (April); great-grandchildren, Mallory, Hadley, Jackson, Cooper and Evelyn; sister-in-law, Mary Bess Cecil; and many nephews and nieces.
A special thank you to all at Atria Springdale who helped Mort in so many ways, as well as his caregivers: Ms. Joyce Collins, Ms. Mary Ann Bonner, Ms. Deloris and Ms. J'Lisa.
A celebration of life will be held at Dale and Julie's house Aug. 6, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasureville Cemetery.
