FILLMORE - Bernard A. Mills, of 34 Emerald St., died Friday (August 19, 2016) in his home. He was born on Dec. 11, 1922, in Rossburg, a son of the late Balfour and Lenora Green Mills.
He was married to Louise Yanda for 59 years. She predeceased him on June 30, 2011.
He was an Air Force Veteran, having served during World War II and Korean conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 1155 of Fillmore. He was also a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church and was a power plant operator for Rochester Gas and Electric for 39 years.
Bernard was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his children, Melissa Mills of Fillmore, James (Chele) Mills of Hume and Lydia Mills of Fort Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Christopher (Julia) Mills of Centerville and Elizabeth Mills of Hume; three great-grandchildren, Johnny, Allie and Carter; his siblings, Jean (Kenneth) Irwin of Wiscoy, Alan (Judy) Mills of Wiscoy and R. Craig Mills of Canandaigua; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Stewart S. Mills in 1991 and Lowell B. Mills Sr. in 2009.
Family and friends may gather at the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 North Genesee Street, Fillmore, on Sunday, (Aug. 21, 2016) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Aug. 22, 2016) at 11 a.m. in the Centerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Schooley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Alger Cemetery, Fillmore.
