Darlene Riesdorph Obituary

Darlene Margaret Riesdorph

GREER, S.C. - Darlene Margaret Riesdorph, 69, of Greer, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026.

She was born to the late George William and Margaret Marie Shetterly. Darlene shared 24 years of marriage with her beloved, late husband, Patrick John Riesdorph.

Darlene was born in Newport, R.I., but went on to live in New York, Louisiana and finally, South Carolina. She worked in food service at Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital and in the fitting room at Walmart in Leesville, La.

Darlene enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills, playing bingo and competing and playing games with her friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and sunbathing in beautiful weather. Darlene will be remembered for her joy, love of people, and, of course, love of Diet Coke.

Darlene is survived by her son, Eric (Cara) Riesdorph of South Carolina; daughter, Catherine Packard of Washington; siblings, Sherlynn (Larry) White of Louisiana, George (Mary Anne) Shetterly of Virginia, David (Cynthia) Shetterly of Virginia, Connie Turner of North Carolina, Karen Collins of Louisiana and Jason Shetterly of Louisiana; and grandchildren, David, Ryan and Logan Packard, and Julianna and Lucca Riesdorph.

In addition to her husband and parents, Darlene was predeceased by her sister, Linda Showers of Louisiana.

Darlene will be deeply missed and dearly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

I went to school with Darlene at Allegany Central School. She was always the sweetest person, always kind and had a great laugh!! I was fortunate enough in the years after we graduated to be able to see her from time to time, when we would each be out and about. She always spoke about Eric and Catherine and how proud she was of them.
Sending prayers of peace and comfort to Eric, Catherine and the Shetterly family.
