David Ensell Obituary
PORTVILLE - David L. Ensell, of Gleason Hollow Road, Portville, passed away Sunday (Nov. 7, 2021) at Olean General Hospital.
Born Nov. 14, 1940, in Westons Mills, he was the son of James and Alberta Murphy Ensell.
David was a graduate of Portville Central School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He owned and operated DL Ensell Masonry and Sandblasting and Advantage Rental, both in Portville, and enjoyed mentoring many people over the years.
In his free time, David enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR and rescuing and caring for animals. His greatest joy was watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events. He will be greatly missed for his wonderful sense of humor and practical jokes.
David is survived by his daughter, Anne (James) Kivari of Olean; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessica, Nathan, Steven, Phillip Jr., George and Daniel; his former wife, Donna Ensell of Allegany; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Phillip Ensell; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Ensell Pantano; four brothers, Eugene, Jack, Charles and Edward; and two sisters, Josephine and Margaret.
A celebration of David's life will be announced at a later date.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA, 2944 Route 16N, Olean, NY 14760.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville.
