David Golley Obituary

ELLICOTTVILLE - David W. Golley, 70, of Route 242, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 2, 2014) at Olean General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Salamanca, the son of the late Floyd and Evelyn (Brown) Golley. On Sept. 12, 1964, he married the former Barbara Nitsche, who survives.

Mr. Golley was the Town of Ellicottville Highway Superintendent for 24 years and owned an operated Golley's Service in Ellicottville from 1965 to 1985.

He was a member of the Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church and its Usher's Assoc., Ellicottville Volunteer Fire Department, WNY Harness Assoc., NYS Highway Superintendent's Assoc., and a social member of the Ellicottville American Legion. He loved his family, his horses and his farm.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by four sons, John (Debra) Golley and James Golley, both of Ellicottville, Joseph (Jody) Golley of Corona, Calif., and Jeffery (Ruthie) Golley of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; a daughter, Deborah (Ed) Frederickson of Ellicottville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Duane (Diana) Golley of Allegany and Ronald Golley of Kill Buck; two sisters, Katherine Golley and Sharon Morton, both of Ellicottville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Dale Golley, who is survived by his wife Anne Golley of Ellicottville.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., in Little Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 8, 2014) at Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Ellicottville. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Ellicottville.

Memorials may be made to the Ellicottville Volunteer Fire Department, or Ellicottville Great Valley Ambulance service.
