David Rutterman Obituary

David G. Rutterman

OLEAN - David G. Rutterman, 64, passed away suddenly at home Tuesday (July 15, 2025) after suffering an apparent heart attack.

Dave was born May 21, 1961, in Groton, Conn., and was one of four children born to John W. "Jack" and Elizabeth A. "Betty" Crosson Rutterman. He had enjoyed a loving, long-term relationship with Mia O'Brien, they having known each other since childhood and who were blessed to share their adult lives together.

He was a graduate of Portville Central School and later received a bachelor's degree from Grove City College.

He worked for decades for Eagle Air Compressors based in Greensboro, N.C.

Dave was an outdoorsman through and through. Whether it be boating, four-wheeling, biking or hiking, it was always made better for him when shared with family and friends. He also enjoyed a good beverage with friends, and was a music fan, knowledgeable about many genres.

He also enjoyed being a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Olean, where he was soon to be an active board of director.

He loved animals, especially dogs, and was the beloved owner of his yellow lab, 'Bubba.'

He leaves behind the love of his life, Mia; his mother, Betty of Portville; two sons, Ty (Tamara) Warner of Portville and William Rutterman of Crystal River, Fla.; a stepson, Jared (Nicole) Warner of Rixeyville, Va.; three grandchildren, Adelyn Warner, Jackson Warner and Hannah Warner; two brothers, Doug (Brenda) Rutterman of Portville and Dan (Pam Franklin) Rutterman of Morganton, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Jack in 2016; and a sister, Linda Emick in 2001.

The family invites friends to a memorial visitation to be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday (July 19, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.  A service will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Flowers are gratefully declined, and memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
