Donna M. Steiner

DELEVAN - Donna M. Steiner of Church Street passed away Tuesday (Sept. 28, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born April 4, 1938, in Olean, she was the daughter of Claude and Dorothy Pierce Weaver. On Sept. 1, 1956, in Machias, she married David N. Steiner, who predeceased her Aug. 30, 2004.

Mrs. Steiner was a graduate of Delevan-Machias High School and was employed at the U.S. Post Office in Delevan for many years. She was also the co-owner of the Fitness Connection in Chaffee for 20 years.

She loved to play volleyball, tennis and play cards. She also enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Fla. She was also a faithful member of the Delevan United Methodist Church, where she sang in its choir.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Steiner of Sarasota and Dale (Josie) Steiner of Hornell; two daughters, Debra (Gary) Smith of Arcade and Diane (Derek) Owens of Delevan; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Marga) Weaver of Machias; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may gather with the family today (Oct. 1, 2021) from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St., Franklinville. Her funeral service will be held Saturday (Oct. 2, 2021) at noon in the Delevan United Methodist Church, at the corner of Church Street and Delevan Avenue. Celebrating her life will be Rev. Dawn Queensbury. Burial will follow in Delevan Cemetery.
