Gary Wenrick Howe

GREAT VALLEY - Gary W. Howe, of Mutton Hollow Road, passed away Monday (June 16, 2025) at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center of Olean.

Gary was born June 7, 1942, in Salamanca, and was the son of Glen A. and Verna Wenrick Howe.

Gary was a 1960 graduate of Ellicottville Central School. He graduated from Bryant & Stratton in 1962.

Gary retired from Ellicottville Central School in 2002.

Gary was a member of the Great Valley United Methodist Church, having served as building fund treasurer and trustee. Gary was a life member of the Great Valley Volunteer Fire Company, Inc since 1960, where he was a past president, treasurer and assistant chief. He was also the longest serving member in department history. Gary was also a past president and life member of the Cattaraugus County Volunteer Fire Association, Inc., and a life member of the Southwestern Volunteer Fire Association. He was a former councilman of the Great Valley Town Board and a former secretary of treasure of the Great Valley Fore District 2.

Gary is survived by many cousins.

A private burial will be held. Burial will be in Mount Prospect Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Babbitt & Easton Funeral Home, 7 N. Main St. Franklinville.
