Gloria Reynolds Obituary
Born Oct. 24, 1922, in Brinkley, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Hikel and Elizabeth Shaban Ash.
Gloria was a graduate of Olean High School in 1940. She worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company in Olean and later transferred to their Buffalo office, working as a bookkeeper and sewing teacher.
Gloria moved back to Olean where she met and married her husband, Lloyd E. Reynolds, in 1945. He predeceased her in 1964.
Once her children were grown, Gloria worked at the Olean General Hospital as the outpatient coordinator, and after retirement she volunteered at the hospital gift shop and Olean Public Library.
Gloria was a loyal fan of St. Bonaventure basketball and one of the more vocal fans in her section. The same can be said of her devotion to the Buffalo Bills, and she was convinced she would see them going to this year's Super Bowl.
Her family was her passion and greatest joy and she also was an avid golfer and tennis enthusiast, playing both into her late 80s. She was also an accomplished bridge player and frequently enjoyed games of Mexican Train with her family, which they sometimes let her win. Even in her later years, her children loved to joke with her as she had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh.
Gloria is survived by her eight loving children, Marcia Reynold-Nandillon, Mark (Deborah) Reynolds, Sandra Reynolds, David Reynolds, Laurie (Paul) Bzdak, James (Jill) Reynolds, Steven Reynolds and Daniel Reynolds. Her beloved extended family includes 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 19 nieces and nephews; one brother, Joseph Ash; and one brother-in-law, William (Marilyn) Reynolds.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Patrick in 2016.
There will be no services for Gloria at this time. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it was Gloria's wish that donations be made to Archbishop Walsh High School, 208 N. 24th St., Olean; or to St. John's Catholic Church, 931 N. Union St., Olean.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.

My condolences to the family. I spent numerous years playing in a tennis league with Gloria along with many other wonderful women sharing our Iove for the game and enjoying our "sports banquets" together. It was always a joy to have Gloria as a partner as she was a true competitor and so much fun to be around. I will remember her with great fondness.

She was a wonderful Aunt. She babysat me for my mother when mom had to work, She found carpenter jobs and misc jobs around her home for me when I needed money, and she always seemed to have the right thing to say when in conversations. She was an inspiration indeed and I am going to miss her and her lebonese cooking. May she rest in peace in the arms of the almighty father, son and holy spirit and I'm looking forward to rejoicing with her again in the future.
