Louis Ensworth Obituary
Louis was born in Allegany on March 22, 1933, the son of the late Burritt and Ellen Anderson Ensworth.
He graduated from Allegany High School in 1941. Louis joined the U.S. Navy after graduating and served from 1955 to 1957. He then attended St. Bonaventure University, where he earned a bachelor's in education and a master's in education from the University of Georgia.
Louis worked at Olean High School, where he taught typing and driver's ed.
Louis was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Allegany. He liked to go bowling, roller skating and was an avid race fan of all types. When going to Florida for the winters, he would plan his return trip home allowing for stops at current races. His favorite hobby was finding and fixing up old bicycles and giving them away.
Louis is survived by his cousins, David Anderson and Linda Carleton; and several second cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Burritt and Ellen; and several cousins.
Family will receive friends with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 36 N. Fourth St., Allegany, and a funeral service starting at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gerard leFeber officiating. Burial will follow in Allegany Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Meals on Wheels; Cattaraugus County Visiting Nurses; or St. John's Lutheran Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.

A great friend through OHS and racing. At OHS, he shared Indianapolis newspapers during Indy 500 weeks. We read and laughed together in his classroom.
In racing, he showed up at several race tracks when open wheel sprint cars were part of the show. I stopped at his home last summer to chat racing and to see some of his racing memorabilia while he cared for baby kittens. Always interesting visits!! God speed my friend!
