Nancy MacDonell Obituary
BOLIVAR - Nancy Ellen Campbell MacDonell, 95, of Bolivar, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2023) after a lengthy illness.
Nancy was born May 23, 1928, in the Cuba hospital, Cuba, and was a daughter of late Edward M. and Kathryn Elizabeth Sherwood Campbell. Nancy married Robert Malcolm MacDonell on Nov. 15, 1947. They were married 65 years when Bob passed away on June 18, 2013.
Nancy was a graduate of Bolivar Central Schools, Class of 1946. She then attended Alfred University.
She enjoyed working in retail for over 30 years and was an election inspector for the Town and Village of Bolivar for over 30 years.
Nancy enjoyed spending time with her boys, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed family Christmas and other family gatherings very much. Nancy enjoyed playing bridge in several clubs and other card games with friends and was an expert genealogist.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her family and friends
She is survived by her two sons, Scott (Vivian Ryan) MacDonell and Craig MacDonell; and beloved sister, Barbara Ann Campbell Hollis. Nancy was blessed with four grandchildren, Christa (Sean) MacDonell Socha, Robert (Tracy) MacDonell, James (Nichole Weber) MacDonell and Alyn (Stephanie) MacDonell; and 10 great-grandchildren, Nathan MacDonell, Ryan MacDonell, Brandon MacDonell, Sydney Socha, Sarah Socha, Aidan MacDonell, Alexander MacDonell, Phillip MacDonell, Camdyn MacDonell and Tavyn MacDonell. She also had an unofficial adopted son, Bob Dunbar, who lived with the MacDonells his junior and senior year during the school year so he could play football and wrestle, which weren't offered in Richburg at that time.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 554 S. Main St. Bolivar, at which time a memorial service will be held. Rev. David Herne will officiate.
Memorial donations can be made to the Bolivar-Richburg-Allentown-Genesee Historical Society (BRAG), P.O. Box 343, Bolivar, NY 14715.
