Philip E. Johns

ORCHARD PARK - Philip E. Johns, of Armor Duels Road, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at Buffalo General Hospital.

Phil was born Feb. 12, 1945, in Olean, and was the son of Leroy and Elizabeth Guenther Johns. On Aug. 27, 1966, in Delevan, he married his loving wife, Linda Faust, who survives.

Phil was a 1962 graduate of D.M.C.S and continued his education at St. Bonaventure University to receive his bachelor's degree in math.

He taught for three years before working for Motorola in Arcade as an electromechanical technician.

Phil volunteered at Meals on Wheels and Machias Youth Commission for 10 years. He was a Holy Family Church trustee and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Philomena's. Phil volunteered in the Machias Fire Department for 46 years and served as fire commissioner for 30 years.

Beside his loving wife, Phil is survived by his two sons, Andrew (Sandra) Johns of Alexandria, Va. and Benjamin (Lan) Johns of Potomac, Md.; three grandchildren, Cynthia (John) Delpizzo, Evelyn Johns and Fiana Johns; and three brothers, Thomas (Patti) Johns, Eugene (Barbara) Johns and Joseph (Mary) Johns.

Phil was predeceased by his parents; a son, Nathan; and a granddaughter, Becky.

A memorial luncheon will be held at at 1 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 12, 2023) at the Machias Fire Hall, followed by a memorial gathering until 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (Nov. 13, 2023) at St. Philomena's Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Yorkshire Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Machias Volunteer Fire Department, at 9548 Main St., Machias; St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church, at 26 Plymouth Ave., Franklinville; or the Franklinville Food Pantry-Catholic Charities, at 28 Park Square, Franklinville, NY 14737.
