Richard A. Topor, loving husband, father and grandfather

PORTVILLE - Richard A. Topor, 78, died Thursday (Nov. 6, 2025) at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, with his loving wife, Marsha, by his side.

Born July 22, 1947, in San Jose, Calif., the son of the late John J. and Margaret M. Moratto Topor Sr. He married Marsha Wells Topor on July 31, 1971, who survives.

Rick lived in the Olean area from the age of five and in Portville since 1988.

At age 14, Rick started work at Beebe's Floorcovering with his father and long-time friend, Al Stier. He learned the craft from these two very talented men. He would later purchase the business from Frank and Mary Beebe. He merged the company with Custom Carpet Centers for a time and ultimately formed Rick Topor Carpets. He took much pride in his work, and Rick's skills in installing floor covering can still be seen in many area homes and businesses. He retired in 2007.

Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and could often be seen at breakfast around town with his brothers, John and Bob. His sons, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters were the loves of his life, and he enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.

Rick was a Vietnam veteran and took pride in his service. He served from 1968 to 1969. He will be buried in the Veterans' Field of Honor at Mount View Cemetery in Olean.

Rick is survived by his wife, Marsha; two sons, Todd (Mandy) Topor of Farmington and Brian Topor of Valley City, Ohio; granddaughters, Lauren Topor and Ella Topor; brother, Robert (Elaine) Topor; nephews, Jesse Strang and Ryan Topor; nieces, Tammy (Bill) Gann and Mickey (Louis) Shaw; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Terry) Biddle, Connie (John) Topor and Elaine (Bob Topor) Rogers; and brothers-in-law: Earl Wells and Terry Biddle

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret; sister, Barbara (Topor) Fahy and her husband Bud Fahy; brother, John J. Topor Jr.; niece, Tracy (Topor) Harvey; nephew, Terry Topor; father-in-law, Harry L Wells; and mother-in-law, Letha D. Foss Wells

At Rick's request, there will be no visitation or formal services. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
