Thomas H. VanScoter

ELDRED, Pa. - Thomas H. VanScoter, 83, of Clif-Nel Drive, passed away Wednesday (June 15, 2022) at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born April 24, 1939, on the family homestead in Eldred, he was a son of Stanley L. and Rosa Strait VanScoter. On June 4, 1960, in the St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Eldred, he married Cherrie K. Barnes, who survives.

Tom was a 1958 graduate of Otto-Eldred High School and was a lifelong resident of the Eldred area.

He spent 31 years employed as a Lab-worker for Dextor-Hysol in Olean, N.Y.

Mr. VanScoter was a former member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Eldred.

He enjoyed listening to music and square dancing, as well as playing cards, especially euchre, and hunting in his earlier years. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

Surviving are one son, Eric (Helena) VanScoter of Commercial Point, Ohio; two daughters, Julie VanScoter and Victoria (Steven) Brown, both of Eldred; four grandchildren, Deric (Marklyn) Brown, Jordan Brown, Coen VanScoter and Baltazar Boleto; as well as three sisters-in-law, Nini VanScoter, Margaret VanScoter and Debbie VanScoter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Martin VanScoter in 1979; as well as four brothers, Louis "Bud," Franklin Eugene, Robert and Ronald VanScoter; and two sisters, Dolly VanScoter and Shirley Clark.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Frame Funeral Home, Eldred, at which time a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Max Simms officiating. Burial will be in Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred.
