Passed away at her residence in Franklin, TN on October 26, 2013. A 40-year resident of San Marino, CA, she moved to Tennessee four years ago to be closer to family. Barbara was born in Omaha, NE in 1924. She met her future husband, Edward Robert "Bud" Herzberg, in high school. After attending the Northwestern University in Illinois, she returned to Omaha and worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a secretary. Barbara and Bud were married in 1948 and lived in Omaha where their first three children were born, eventually moving to Leawood, KS, where their fourth child was born. In 1967, the family of six moved to California, where Barbara stayed until 2009. Barbara was a very giving person to her family, friends, and community. She was a wonderful artist, specializing in oils, and watercolors. She talked fondly of her trip to Lucca, Italy, where she painted and received instruction. She was an active volunteer with the Junior League of Pasadena, Christ Child Guild, and Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and by her lifelong friends who admired her so. Bud, her husband of 57 years, passed away in Pasadena, CA in 2006. Barbara is survived by her four children, Peter Jansen Herzberg (and his wife, Constantina), Anne Claassen Graber, Barbara Herzberg, and G. Kelly Herzberg Banfield (and her husband, Bruce); seven grandchildren, Ehren, Matthew and Katherine Graber, Timothy and Madeline Murphy, and Christina and Margaret Banfield.
At Barbara's request, there will be a private memorial service in Omaha. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are welcome at your favorite charity. CREMATION SOCIETY OF TN
