Barbara (Melia) Whelan

Barbara (Melia) Whelan, 82, of Rocklin, CA passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. while at home in Rocklin, CA.

Barbara was born in Gretna, NE on September 2, 1942, the daughter of the late George and Mildred Melia. As a child, she was raised on a farm, around the town of Melia, NE. Named after her generations of family that farmed the region. She moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1964 with her husband, Duane and raised three children. She loved to travel and was especially fond of Ireland and Scotland. She is survived by her husband Duane Whelan, daughter Michelle Whelan, two sons Scott and Michael Whelan, sister Bernadette (Melia) Dyer and three granddaughters Kelly, Erin and Amy.

I'm just stunned at Barbara's passing. We were born the year both living in Gretna. Her father and my father were brothers. I spent a lot of time at there farm, and have lots of fond memories of Barbara. I will always remember Barbara. My condolences to her family.
