Christine Dunn Obituary

A true force of nature, Christine Maria Schneider Dunn passed away on October 20th surrounded by her loving family in her father's hometown, Regensburg, Germany after a sixteen-month battle with cancer.

Chris, a first generation American, was born on October 18th,1954 in Omaha, Nebraska to her German father, Johann Schneider and Hungarian mother, Marika Szabo Schneider. Her childhood was full of love and shared adventures with her parents and three brothers - summers were highlighted by trips to their cabin in Walker Valley and winters were anchored in family Christmas traditions like singing O Tannenbaum as loudly as possible. A woman born to be wild, Chris was a docent at Henry Doorly Zoo and a hot walker for horses at Aksarben. She always had an universal eye for antiques and worked with her best friend at Meriwether's Estate Sales.

Chris attended St Gerald's, Ralston High School, and the University of Nebraska Omaha. While stage managing for a play at UNO, her path crossed serendipitously with the love of her life - Kevin Walsh Dunn. Chris and Kevin were married on December 5th 1977 and raised their family in Ralston, Nebraska - setting a foundation of community and connection for their girls to flourish. Kevin and Chris' epic love story has created a lasting family legacy - one overflowing with cherished memories.

Chris (aka Momma Dunn, Lustige Frau, Chrissy Christmas) lived her life authentically - full of laughter, play and passion. Her warmth, strength, and welcoming nature was a beacon to all. We are not only losing our mom, but we are all losing a confidant, a sister, a best friend, a dancer, a godmother, a mystic, a free spirit, and a true original.

Chris is survived by her daughters, Kaylea, Sarah, Michaela, Regina, Andrea, and Elizabeth: sons-in-law Tyler, CJ, Jamie, Peter, Mickey, and Jensen; grandsons Shane, Cody, Zander, Caden, Seamus, Killian, and Felix. She is survived by her two brothers, Peter Schneider and Tony Schneider, her sisters-in-law Yvette Schneider, Kathy Schneider, and Barb Schneider. She will be reunited with her parents, her brother John Schneider, and her beloved, Kevin "Irish" Walsh Dunn.

Chris will be buried with her husband Kevin at Glendale Cemetery in Louisville, Nebraska during a private interment with family.

Chris's Celebration of Life will be held November 29th, 2025 at the German-American Society in Omaha. Doors open at 1:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 2:00 p.m. Memorials can be made in honor of Christine Dunn to Mercy High School or Horses Help SWI.

Sincere Sympathy to all you Girls and your families. Chris was so special to so many people. I met her when my sister Kathy married Tony and enjoyed visiting with her off and on when our paths crossed. A Mother of 6 girls and lots of memories growing up I am sure-----keep the memories and love close to your hearts. God Bless All of You. Sending Hugs from our Farm. Plus, Prayers and Love. Chris and I were good friends in high school
We lost track of one another as our lives took different turns but we reconnected at our 50th class reunion and always promised to get back together, but sadly that never happened.
I was shocked to see that she had passed away, but not shocked to see that she was loved by everyone.

But I am surprised to find that she will be buried in Glendale Cemetery, which is across the street from where I live and where I too will be buried with my husband when the Lord calls me Home.

Rest in peace, Christine

I met Chris several times when she visited London. I really appreciated her warmth and energy, her kindness and generosity.

Aunt Chris was always a fun and eccentric person. Her laughter and smile would always light up my day when I was able to see her. I have a specific memory of Chris from when I babysat Landon and was in Nebraska for 3 months. She took Landon, Zander, and I to get donuts, mini golfing, and then to the pizza machine. It was such a fantastic day and I will hold on tight to that memory forever.
