Colleen was such a big part of my growing up. All the laughs, tears, and trying new things together. I will never the first time we made rice and burned the pan. I just loved Colleen. Nicki (Wehr) Smith, Nebraska City, NE

To the McCarthy family and all those who loved her: Colleen was a dear friend. If I had to describe her succinctly, it would be "loyal friend". I think that's why she kept so many friends. You could depend on Colleen. She kept in touch with me after I transferred away from Clarke, she was a bridesmaid in my wedding, came to visit Gary and I many times, was one of the first to see my eldest son. I will miss her more than words can say. Heaven has gained a bright light! Our prayers are with you all, Gary and Susan Lyttek

To the McCarthy family and dear friends: If I had to choose one word to describe Colleen, it would be loyal. She was a constant friend to me no matter where in the world I found myself. In my wedding, she was the only bridesmaid from college. She was one of the first to visit after my eldest son was born. She wrote regularly and kept me up-to-date on all the Clarke activities as well as sharing her life with Gary and I. If I needed her, she found the time for me. But I know she didn't only bless me with her life, she touched and nurtured so many just by being herself. She was loved, is loved, and will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with you all. Dear Margaret & Family:
Colleen was a dear dear friend throughout highschool and I was so happy she was able to be our guest at my wedding just last year looking happy and healthy and... well... COOL!! In describing her to my new husband Bill, the best comparison I could come up with was the Maureen O'Hara Character opposite John Wayne in "The Quiet Man". You certainly didn't want to get her IRISH up if you know what I mean! Fiesty, Funny and a SUPER friend for sure. Far stronger a person, I think than any of us really knew... she will be missed AND thought of fondly with PLENTY of laughter mingling with our tears. May God Bless you all and May the road rise to meet her...

To the McCarthy Family,,, Colleen was taken far to early. I will always remember our fun at Smith Peterson, the Billy Joel and Elton John concert in Ames when the security guards were tellling us to get of the chairs (because we were both too short to see!) and the road trip to Dubuque. She is at peace now.

"Cool" was such an amazing friend! From our first day of high school 34 years ago at Cathedral to now, every time we were together was filled with so much laughter. I will miss her so much and will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.
