Daniel John Corcoran

March 11, 1961 to October 10, 2023

Dan resided in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and spent his formative years in Carter Lake, IA.

He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, IA. Dan received his Ph.D. from Touro University as well as several master's degrees. After instructing classes as a professor, Dan became Academic Program Director of Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental Management at Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama. He also held the position of Industrial Hygienist/Assistant Area Director for the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, John Malcolm and Barbara Grace Corcoran. He is survived by wife Tammy, sons Matthew and Benjamin, daughter April, mother-in-law Sandy Helms, sisters Denice Martin (Robert), Patty Kousgaard (Willie), brother Frank Corcoran (Cheri), sister Cindy Anderson (Dave), many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and many friends.

Celebration of life services will be held on November 4, 2023, at Lakeview Bible Church, 1651 Avenue Q, Carter Lake, Iowa, 51510. Visitation at 10:00 AM, service at 11:00 AM.

What can I say about my dad? He was kind, he was smart, he was gentle, he was a handsome man, and he had a great sense of humor.
This page has his last name misspelled, which I can't help but think he would get a kick out of if he could see it.
Above all, he was one of the best men I have ever known. For 30 years of my life he offered me guidance, love, laughs, and he is much of the reason that I am where I am today.
Of course there were sad moments, and mad moments too; he was not perfect and he worked way too hard all of the time. I wish he could have slowed down and let himself breathe more than he did. In the end, he was a good man, and was beloved by many. He touched more lives than I could possibly imagine and his loss is felt far beyond family and friends...

Dad, if you're somehow out there listening or reading this message: Thank you for everything you gave me in life, I love you and I miss you every single day. I am so sad that you are gone.

I am truly sorry for your families loss, my heart broke at the news. Growing up, Dan was always kind and one of the really good guys. During our adult years, I always enjoyed his posts on Facebook, he was always putting a smile on my face. Such a loss, when the world needs such men as Dan.

Dan was such a remarkable person, and his presence will be greatly missed. Dan touched the lives of so many with his kindness, compassion, and warm-hearted nature. I have many fond memories of Dan, and I will cherish them forever. It is truly heartbreaking to think that he is no longer with us, but his spirit will live on through the love he shared and the impact he made on those fortunate enough to have known them.
