I went on this site about former major league players for the first time today. It's the first time I had learned about Danny passing. I was a year ahead of him at St. Cecillia's but then went to Prep. I can't remember exactly where he grew up but 38th and California sticks in my mind. I want to extend my condolences to his wife and family.

Dan McGinn and I were classmates in kindergarten through High School at St Cecilia's and Cathedral High School. We were also teammates and close friends for 74 years. We had a lot of adventures during those years. He is greatly missed by all who knew him, because he leaves a void in our lives. He battled cancer with grace and class and that is how he lived his life as a great Catholic. You have earned your heavenly reward. God be with you, my brother. Dave Harrington

Rhea- You Dan and I were supposed to meet in NYC, many years ago. For some reason we never were able to get together. For years before the new internet capabilities, I searched for Dan, just to give him a call. He was a complete gentleman, we worked together at AT&T, I was in New York, and we worked on the UPS account. Only today I thought of Dan, again, and found the info on his passing. I am truly sorry for your loss, and my most sincere love and wishes for you and your family during this difficult time. Hank Michaelson

I am Dan's roommate and teammate from Notre Dame. I'm a Canadian and live many miles from Omaha on an island off the West Coast of Canada. I just found out that Dan has walked on. We were close friends for our entire tenure at Notre Dame. He will forever remain in my prayers. I send heartfelt condolences to Rhea and the boys.

I remember seeing Dan at Millard North baseball games watching Mark pitch. He was always calm and I could see how he enjoyed watching. Those are some of my fond memories of Dan and baseball. May God comfort the family. Lani Randels

Dear Rhea and family. We were so very sorry to read about Dan's passing. He was well known as a great athlete, but, we knew him best as a great neighbor. We saw him as a great husband, father, and grandfather for many years as he was always there for his family and friends. Dan was a great example of how a family man should be and as a man of faith we know he now walks with Our Lord Jesus Christ. We'll remember you and yours in our prayers to help you through this difficult time. May God bless. Cindy and Mike

I wrote Mr. McGinn several weeks ago as a baseball fan. He kindly returned my card signed, and graciously answered a few questions (he was most proud of going deep off Seaver!). To do that while battling cancer is a special soul. God Bless Mr. McGinn and family! :)
