David Hansen Obituary

David L. Hansen, was born on December 24th, 1936 and died on January 2nd, 2023.
David was born in Dannebrog, NE to Cornel and Irma Hansen, who preceded him in death, along with his two brothers, Daryl and Kurt. David moved to Bellevue, NE in 1944, and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1955. David married Val Jean Swanson on June 22nd, 1957 and enjoyed 65 years of marriage. They had four children: Keith (Vivian) of San Antonio TX, Colleen (John Ruther) of Ralston NE, and Craig (Michelle) and Mark (Karen) of Papillion, NE; and were blessed with 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-granddaughters; and 4 step-great-grandchildren. David and Val Jean moved to Papillion, NE in April of 2004.
David worked in accounting at Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years and retired in 1998. He was a long time active member of First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, an avid gardener, and a member of the Nebraska Daylily Association. He hybridized and named a daylily for each of his grandchildren.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, January 14th, 11am at First Presbyterian Church, 1220 Bellevue Blvd S. Bellevue, NE 68005. In Lieu of flowers, suggest memorials to the Church in David's memory.
