My friend, you will be missed dearly. I'll see you again when the time is right.

Delbert, man I am still having problems believing you're gone. I aint going to even cap, you always came from the heart. We may have not always seen eye-to-eye but you were always my guy. That's why I nicknamed you Delbeezy, "my neezy 4 sheezy." Some may read my memories and question the intellect, whereas I may use some slang unknown to them or words we've been taught are not words at all, however Delbert this is not a collegate exam and to edit it in any way is to add a sense of phoniness uncharacteristic of you or me. I can't go out like that in my last goodbye.
TO A BROTHER WHO REMAINED STOMP AND DIDN'T HAVE TO TRY, TO YOU MY BROTHER, THE TRUE "G'S" SAY THAT'S MY GUY. TO A BROTHER WHO'S POSITIVE ATTITUDE RAISED EMOTIONS TO THE SKY, TO YOU,MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN WOULD EXCLAIM THAT'S MY GUY. TO A MAN WHO LEFT A VOID AND US ASKING WHY YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BECAUSE YOU ARE OUR GUY. TO A BROTHER WHO TOUCHED EVERYONE HE MET, THERE'S NO NEED TO REPLY. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED, MISSED, AND LOVED BECAUSE YOU ARE OUR GUY.
My families deepest sympathy goes out to the HARRIS FAMILY.

It seems beyond real, saying goodbye to my first brother to pass on, but sadly, the day has arrived. Delbert leaves so many people memories and lessons from which we can all benefit. As a brother, he was a very caring and loving person. Though sometimes misunderstood, he was strong, sincere, and hard working. I have been in California for the last twenty-seven years (plus) and unfortunately, therefore did not have the opportunity to spend the time I wanted with him in the last days of his life. I will always remember his dedication to his children and others. He will be remembered, and will continue bringing smiles to others beyond the grave.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.I was so sad to hear about the loss of Delbert. He was always so kind. The one thing that I remember most about him is the fact that he loved his family, and that he had such a great admiration for his children. He was so proud of them. I often remember his dedication to his children's school events. I just looked at him to be such an honorable man to commit so much time and patience with them. For the children may your memories bring you comfort in knowing how much your dad loved you.May God bless and keep you all.(Always family!)

Delbert was the brother I never had. He harassed me just like a real little sister. When Kathy first moved away from Omaha, he asked if I helped her move. When I said no, he began singing "That's what friends are for" by Dionne
Worwick. I'll miss his quick wit and humor.--Crissy

Wow! His laugh still remains on our Wedding video! Such an infectious laugh, that, if you were sad you could not help but to laugh! We had our ups and downs, but through it all, there was much respect and love for Delbert! He loved his family and his friends! At track meets (anywhere in this country) if his kids' were running, you better believe that he would be there to support them!!
He will be sorely missed by the entire Grigsby Family!

Love Always,

Dear Harris Family,

The first time I encountered Delbert I didn’t know what to make of him. He talked about me so bad, for a minute I thought he was one of my brothers. I’m a friend of Kathy’s so Delbert never remembered my name; every time I saw him at the post office or Wal-Mart he’d say “hey Kathy’s friend.” Delbert was always easy going and he definitely had the gift of gab. I never knew someone who could talk so much about nothing and make it entertaining. It was a pleasure and a blessing to have known him.

Delbert was a cool brother who cared so much about his children. When we would see each other in passing he would always mention his kids. No matter what he was going though he kept a positive attitude. I'm mad that he's gone, but I know that he's OK. I'll keep your family in my prayers. May GOD's peace be upon your family.
