Dr. Nagengast was a student in one of my night classes at Mount Marty College--Church History, if I recall correctly. I was so impressed with his taking the time and effort to come to the college weekly to add to his learning more about his church's history. When he read about the celebration of my 60th anniversary of vows, he sent a congratulatory note.
That shows the kind of man he was. Thoughtful of others. My condolences to the family and promise of prayers by our Sisters (I'll post obit), my mentioning him by name as I lector at Mass, and perpetual remembrance by our community as I have included his name in our monastic Book of Life of our deceased Sisters, friends, and relatives. I shall pray to him as well. I am with you in spirit today as you consign him to God. Take time to grieve but recall his spirit remains with you. S. Ann Kessler, OSB

Steve, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I remember you telling me once that your Dad was "old school" with his practice by bringing his patients back to his office instead of the nurse. That says a lot about who he was as a person. I am sorry for your loss.
