Bruce, Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I remember when we got the chance to meet him at Dallas's ball game when I brought the pizza up to the park. Your dad popped open the back of his SUV and we all shared the pizza together. He was one of a kind, and I wish I had the opportunity to get to know him better. He made a lasting impression on me from that first meeting of a man with a good heart, and very down to earth personality. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.

Carol and family, we will miss Don. He was a pretty special gentleman. I have known Don since the early days in my position as an administrator in the Westside Schools. When we needed athletic equipment, we always called Don. We knew he would be honest and get quality equipment at a fair price. Don was a man of great integrity and a good sense of humor. Les will miss him at the morning coffees. Family and friends have been very fortunate to have Don as a part of their life. Les & Doris Sladek

Bruce, Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. I remember meeting him along with you and your brother at Miracle Hills when you were getting ready to open your practice. He was very proud of you. I'm sure he will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with you.

Don was a friend and my boss at Hauff Sports. He was always a man I could trust with great integrity, and I always enjoyed being with him. Some of my fondest memories was him taking time to take me to lunch at the Bluejay, and I"m pretty sure he always paid for it. When I first started working there, he would let me help him with looking up prices for his bids and he would pay me an extra $20 for doing it. That was needed money back then for our family and he knew that. He was also a tremendous mentor for me as a young man and taught me how to treat people and was my first mentor in sales. I enjoyed working and being with all of his boys, all of them are class individuals that reflect on their mom and dad. Don will truly be missed by all of us who knew him.
My prayers and love go to all of you.

Carol & family,

I knew Don thru working at Hauff Sports. He was such a nice guy. He would always come over & greet you by shaking your hand & ask you how your day was going. He will be missed by so many. May the support of your family & friends comfort you at this time.

You are in my prayers.

Don was a man of character and integrity. I always enjoyed his drop ins and knew that when we were in a jam, I could count on him for whatever we needed. I'm sure he's 'somewhere' with his former customers and the student athletes he helped equip, talking football or baseball, and sipping that bottomless cup of coffee.

While his passing saddens me, there is great joy in having known Don. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Brad & Angela: We never got to know your dad personally, but we do remember your fond admiration of him through stories and memories shared during our travels. Very glad you've been able to be back in Omaha over the last year and spend that time with your dad. Our sympathy to you and your family. Kyle and Mary Johnson.
