Dorothy Knight Obituary

Dorothy Marie "Dottie" Knight

February 20, 1928 - October 18, 2025

It is with profound love and gratitude that we announce the passing of Dottie Knight, aged 97, on October 18, 2025, surrounded by family and held in the gentle peace she brought to so many throughout her life.

Born on February 20, 1928, in Laurel, Neb., Dottie lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and an unshakable devotion to her faith, family and all those she loved. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend, and she enriched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Dottie had a gift for making others feel so very special. Her laughter filled rooms, her wisdom guided generations, and her compassion knew no bounds. Whether through her home-cooked meals, or the countless stories she shared, she created a legacy of warmth and joy that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Mary Kay (Knight) Thalken, Kathleen (Knight) Wernz (Allen), Tom Knight (Lori John), Betsy (Knight) Schneider (Mark), Peggy (Knight) Johnson; her grandchildren, Matthew (Jess) Thalken, Nicholas (Molly) Thalken, Steven Ashford, Lauren Johnson, Sam Ashford, Vinny Knight, Jack Johnson, Megan Schneider, Katie Schneider (fiance, Danny Waldron) and Alec Knight; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Eleanor and Dottie Thalken, Romi Knight and Scottie Johnson who will forever treasure her strength, her humor, and her unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard V. (Vince) Knight; her son, John Patrick Knight; sons-in-law, William L. (Bill) Thalken and James A. (Jim) Johnson; her parents, Clarence and Marie Quist; along with her brothers, Bud and Francis Quist.

A celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Visitation is from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by The Mass of the Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather and honor a life so beautifully lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Josie Harper Hospice House or St. Pius X Church, in keeping with Dottie's generous spirit. Though she has left this world, Dottie's love will continue to light our way. Her grace, humor, and unwavering faith remind us all of the beauty in a life well lived.

My sympathy to the Knight family for their loss of their mother. Still remember that phone number 397 9476. Dotties care and compassion was unsurpassed to no one. Have always appreciated the Knight family trusting me to repair their vehicles through those years. I cant watch a WWII documentary without remembering Dottie telling me about Vinces time at the Battle of the Bulge in his service time and how he hated the fouth of July, as it made him think of shots going off and it meant someone lost their life. their is a reason they are called the greatest generation, because they were. Everything we have is because of Gods grace, and what that generation did for us. I will remember you in my prayers, but we all know where Dottie is.

Sad to hear about Dotty's passing. I spent many of Monday nights at the Ozone Lounge with her and the best of the Wine Ladies! Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
