I had the privilege of working with Dwain at Holy Cross, at Creighton Prep games, and several years at the Douglas County Fair. He seemed to make the best of what was going on while adding his unique sense of humor to the situation. Great teacher and family man.

Dwain and Sheila were very supportive friends when my wife Sandy and I moved to Omaha. Our children played together in the Keystone area. And Dwain literally saved my life one night. Our homes were close. Both had uncoated, high-power electric lines running through trees in our back yards. In a storm, the electric lines lit the trees on fire. To protect our home, I prepared to spray the trees with water. Dwain came screaming at me to put the hose down. He was so emphatic, I did. Then he explained that I was about to electrocute myself via the hose water. I've now lived 45 more years thanks to Dwain's spontaneous love for a neighbor. Sandy and I send condolences to Sheila and the Petersen family. And a special prayer of gratitude to Dwain.

We got to know Pete, as we knew him when we retired in 2014 and moved from Kearney to Omaha. We met him at Keystone and got to know him through his stories
In his stories you could always tell.he was a teacher as they were so many life lessons. Read the lyrics to the song, Should you go first and I remain, which was sung by the Gaithers. The introduction to the verse is Beyond the Sunset. Will remember Pete with his beautiful smile and his tenderness. "When the one you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure "
