Preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert C. Swanson and Roberta Fulbright Swanson; brother Jay Fulbright Swanson and wife Janelle Lee Swanson. Survived by loving wife of 28 years, Nancy Tattle Swanson of Longmont, CO; daughter Catherine Swanson McCarthy; sons Gilbert C. Swanson, III and Christopher Hosford Swanson all of Omaha NE. Grandchildren Alexandra L. McCarthy (18), Caitlin D. McCarthy (15) and Austin L. Swanson (13), Matthew D. Swanson (8) all of Omaha NE. Sisters Patricia Swanson Carlson (Richard), McLean VA and Carla Swanson Baker (John), Houston, TX. Many Carlson (Richard), McLean VA and Carla Swanson Baker (John), Houston, TX. Many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gilbert (Gib) was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, raised in Omaha and passed away in Longmont, CO. He was dedicated to his family and his faith and was a proud father and grandfather. The people in his life, who loved him, will miss him for his sweet and generous spirit, his wonderful sense of humor and his love for the Lord. 'Great will be our astonishment in that day, and we shall then realize that it is not our works which remain, but the work which God has wrought through us...' -Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
A SERVICE AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made in his name to the Children's Hospital and Medical Center Foundation, Omaha, NE.

My sympathy to the Swanson family. I remember Gibb when he was Chief Deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
He did a lot for the law enforcement community.
