Heinz Albert Olk, age 91, the son of Michael and Augusta ( Posdzich) Olk, was born August 5, 1933 in Driegelsdorf ( Drygallen)
East Prussia, Germany. He passed away September 26, 2024 in Ashland , Nebraska
Heinz is survived by his wife, Wera; Children, Michael (Judie) Jürgen. grandchildren, Christine (Kyle) Thomas; great-grandchildren, Gabriele, Katarina; many nieces, nephews and relatives in Germany.
MEMORIAL SERVICE 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 11204 S. 204th St. Gretna, NE. Inurnment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Heinz was someone to share his German heritage with Omaha through the Omaha Sister Cities Association. He established Braunschweig, Germany as Omaha's sister city in 1983. He was a leader and contributor in whatever he did. Prayers and blessings to his family.

Heinz was one the people that I would call mentor to those that truly wanted to become involved with the German American Society. He showed me what true dedication was and to do your best in whatever you attempt to do. Lastly, he was always very supportive of me during my years on the Board of Directors and during my tenure as President of the Society. I will miss him very much.
