Jackie Boone Obituary

BOONE-Jackie Marie, was born April 6, 1946 in Brooksville Mississippi to James and Addie Ruth Cotton. She graduated from Omaha Tech High School in 1965, where she met Ron Boone. Jackie married her high school sweetheart, Ron on August 21, 1971, in Omaha, Nebraska. They soon after relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Jackie loved sports, especially basketball. She enjoyed traveling and watching her husband and son, JaRon play the sport. Jackie was an avid jogger which kept her in great shape. Jackie was a great cook, her specialties were her finger lickin' fried chicken and her homemade ice cream. Jackie had a passion for clothes, but shoes were her favorite. Jackie also had a passion for cleaning, and started her own Janitorial company over twelve years ago, and her legacy will live on through her daughter, Jozette.
Jackie was an amazing woman. She loved her family, and was very devoted to them. She had a great sense of humor and a warm smile that lit up the room when she entered. A beautiful woman inside and out, she was always willing to lend a helping hand. In Salt Lake City, Jackie was instrumental in the re-opening of the Rescue Haven, a Christian shelter for women and children in need of refuge, by getting donations of food, clothing, and providing financial support. Jackie served on the board for the American Cancer Society in Salt Lake City. Along with her husband, Jackie was a benefactor for the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where she resided in her final days.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, James Cotton. Jackie is survived by her dedicated husband, Ron Boone; and her two loving children, Jozette and JaRon Boone; her mother, Addie Ruth Cotton; her brothers and sisters, Jimmy Cotton, Francis Phillips, Orell (Ann) Cotton, Ruby (Lee) Ammons-Moore, Rufus (Melva) Cotton, James Cotton, Larry Cotton, Ann (Ray Gene) McIntosh, and Debbie Cotton; three granddaughters, Jazmine, Tatum and Amani; goddaughter, Nikia Bradford; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Viewing Thursday, 11:30-1:30 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 2019 Burdette St, Omaha with funeral services to follow.

Ron Boone and the Cotton Families

I would like to send my sincerest condolences to all of you. I did not know Jackie, as I was a younger than she. I graduated with Ron's sister, Audrey at Tech. From what I have read within the 23 pages of thoughts and memories of her; she was kind, giving, unselfish and a blessed woman to be loved by so many who knew her. May the memories of her be cherished throughout the coming years and may God have blessed all of you and comfort you in that difficult time which has passed. I just learned of her passing on August 3rd.

Ron, Jozette, & JaRon,

Just wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers.
My brother and I were reminiscing about "Boone's Mystical Sound" (I think that's what is was called). We used to walk there and buy our albums and 45's when we were kids. Jackie would always greet us with her beautiful smile and sometimes we would catch her getting her groove on to the sounds of the music!
Jackie will truly be missed!

I idolized Jackie Cotton Boone, to me she was the personification of grace beauty and CLASS!
I'll always remember her big warm smile and hear her say "what are you up to lil bad girl" whenever I saw her. I thank God everyday for putting women in my path that not only talked about being a "real" woman but demonstrated it in the way they lived life. Jackie was indeed one of those women. Meeting Jackie when I was a young girl gave me a standard of the kind of woman I hoped to become.

Sending Blessings and Prayers to the entire Jackie Cotton Boone Family.

Death is never easy to deal with regardless how it touches our lives, rather it may be our child, our mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, sister, brother, wife or husband. We still experience an overwhelming feeling that can not be explained by man. As long as we keep God first in our lives we will over come the terrible shock of that love one no longer being by our side. It will not happen over night, but keep the Faith and God will give us the strength to see another day,and One day,,,That special Day-To see our love ones again.

To the Jackie and Ron Boone families,

We offer our prayers and condolences. We have not lived in Utah for many years but did during the Utah Stars days. After games our son Mike, age 10 at the time, would always wait to see Jackie and Ron and occasionally take a picture with them. Mike was killed in an auto accident in Colorado when he was 19. Maybe because of that we are more able to grieve with you but at the same time celebrate the life of Jackie.

God bless you all Ron and keep smiling for Jackie.

For Ronnie and Jackie, their children & their respective families.
I found this poem which I hope will give your souls " comfort in the peace of God which passeth all understanding."

All Is Well
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household world that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

The eternal God is your refuge.
