James Frances Hyland

James "Jim" Hyland was born on July 1, 1946, and died peacefully on November 25, 2025, of age-related causes. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest "Sam" and Helen Hyland; and his four siblings, Terry Hyland, Kathy Nesvig Hecker, Jeanice Hyland Seuntjens and Mary Donelon.

Raised in Carroll, IA, Jim grew up attending St. Lawrence Grade School and Carroll-Kuemper High. Following high school, he was drafted and served our great nation in the United States Army while in Vietnam. After his military assignment, Jim resumed his education, ultimately graduating from the University of Nebraska Omaha. He remained in Omaha where he worked as a Certified Public Accountant.

Jim was always so proud of his family heritage and relatives. He remained close to his eight nieces and nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. He was caring and compassionate, forever willing to listen, then to share his humble and loved wisdom. As part of his devotion to our Lord, many of Uncle Jim's conversations concluded with kind words and prayers. Jim lived a relatively quiet, simple life and was always deeply committed to his Catholic faith. He was kind and humble, quick to smile and joke.

His favorite farewell was a reminder to "Stay Out of Jail". As a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, he was a daily Mass communicant, usher, sacristan and pro-life advocate, often leading the Rosary outside of the abortion mill.

In later years Jim lived at the Veteran's Facility in Bellevue, NE, where he received wonderful care, allowing him to share the love of Jesus with others. Knowing Jim is with God brings us great joy!

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, December 19th, 10:30 a.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific Street. INTERMENT: Saturday, December 20th, 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson, IA.
