To my nieces and nephews,
My dear brother, Jim, was one of a kind. He was a good Christian and lived his exemplary life in conformance with his faith. He was honest, trustworthy, reliable and a role model for all those around him. Jim was a wonderful father, husband, son and brother.
Jim's sudden passing left all of us in a state of shock and disbelief. Still now I think of something I want to tell him or ask him only I can't. He emailed me almost daily with a joke or something interesting. I had his Christmas present all planned and was ready to start working on it. His being gone is still so hard to process.
I was very lucky to have spoken with him four days before he left and we had a great conversation. I think of him all the time and a part of my heart left with his passing.
I am so very sorry that some of your children will not grow up and know his wonderful humor and wisdom.
Please remember that I am always here for each and every one of you. Cindy, Susan and their families join me in prayers for the happy repose of our dear Jim, my brother and their uncle, As well, we are praying for your acceptance of this harsh, sudden loss and that your sorrow will soon be replaced by so many happy memories.
May God bless you and your families.
With love and blessings,
Kathy

To the O'Brien family. I just found out about Jims passing. I have so many great memories of your Dad from Sokol Park. My parents, Leonard and Kay Taylor, were care takers at Sokol for many years. He was a great man. I always enjoyed running into him at Mutual of Omaha. It was nice to see his smiling face coming down the hall. I can just see Jim and my Dad up there sharing a beer right now...

Dear Ellen and the whole O'Brien family,
I still can't believe your dad is gone. He looked so great when I saw him last, and I even got a hug!
He was the calming force next to your mom's boisterous ways!! We should all be so lucky dying doing something we love. But, I'm so sad for your loss.
I know Lauren and Sara will miss having grandpa around the corner. I will keep all of you in my prayers. Your dad set a good example of living life to the fullest. All the best,
Rose Benda

O'Brien Family, I knew Jim through the Bellevue Gun Club. I always knew it was Jim when I felt a hand on my sholder. I would turn around and it would me him, with a smile and always asking "how are you Mike?" I thought I was special. But after observing his actions at the club, I realized he did this to everyone. He was such a gentlman, kind, helpful and told the best stories and jokes. He will be greatly missed at the Club. I am greatful to have met such a man. My heart felt condolances to your family.

I'm really sorry about your loss. Your folks were great friends of ours back in the Omaha Sports Club days . I didn't even know about your mom until now, so I'm doubly sorry. I can't improve on anything that hasn't been said. I'll pray for both of them, and all of you in your loss.

Dear Ellen Stuva and the O'Brien family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Jim's sudden passing. Whenever I attended one of your family events, your father always made a point to check in with me and ask me how I was doing. He was such a nice guy. He will be missed. He was a special man. The only consolation is that he died doing something he loved. Most of us do not get that lucky. I'll say a prayer for Jim, and all of you.

I would like to offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the O'Brien family in their loss of Jim. I met Jim about 12 years ago when fishing with the Omaha group at Lake Oahe. I've never met a finer more enjoyable gentleman, and I think our entire group is better for having known Jim. He left us with many memories. We will all miss him. Our prayers go out to you in this difficult time. May God comfort and strengthen you in your hour of need.

Guys - I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad, I have never met a person who was as kind as your Father. He is a true gentleman. I know your Mom has their place in heaven in tip top shape and welcomed him home with open arms.
Life hasn't been the same since your Mom has left us and your Dad is going to be terribly missed as well.
Our prayers are with all of you and your families.

I met Jim 10 years ago when he joined our fishing group on our then annual trip to Lake Oahe, SD. Since then we have spent many fishing trips together. Jim was fun to be around, always lending a hand landing a fish or telling stories when the fishing was slow. I always brought the jerky for the group and Jim always provided the after dinner homemade wine. We had many, many memorable moments together. He left us doing what he loved to do - fish. He will be missed deeply.
Sincerly,
Mike Holtzen
