I´m so thankful I got to know Jean as we worked together at the Methodist Perinatal Center. She was a hard worker who was always kind, friendly and caring to both her co-workers and her patients. She was quick to smile and just fun to be around. I admired her positivity in all situations. And I don´t know anyone who loved Disney more than her!
Jean you will be remembered with fondness and love.

We lost a great one. A giving blessed soul. A certain type of nurturing love and straightforwardness much lost and unseen in this modern world. Amidst Jean's heralding life full of nursing and teaching, Jean Jirka had accepted me as family long ago since 1995, out of the humility and humbleness of her golden heart, as young as 8 years old in the 4th grade when I first met her son Tyler, my best friend given to me that year of my life and beyond today.

Family is when someone can make you feel at home, simply by their presence. May we feel that today again. Mrs. Jirka shone that light into our childhood; unending tolerance, unhindered understanding, and overflowing love.

In the LORD God our refuge, find and keep Jean Jirka, as such refuge she provided in all our lives, and the dear Jirka family, a reason to ALWAYS return and appreciate Big Red. This state does not feel the same without Mrs. Jirka; a missing puzzle piece, staring at a picture that will remain unfinished and incomplete. Now we must fill that void with her love.

A keepsake God grants us, is the ability to hear the voice of someone we love, their advice, joy, words, purpose, and love forever reach out to us in our own heads and memories; especially if they have Jean's wit. This proves that even though we are apart from them, they have now become a part of us; A staple in our lives, as much as the Jirka family recliner chair. Some things will never leave.

Thank you Mrs. Jirka for being one of the first, one of the bold, one of the few to prove to me before my life had even started, there are people here worth living for such as dear Jean, there are people here worth fighting for like dear Jean, and there are people here in my humble hometown of Omaha, Nebraska like dear Jean Jirka that will always make things alright again, and a family like the Jirkas to remind all Nebraskans, that you are home.

If we never cast aside our memories, we will never be out of hope and love. Thank you for being a part of my life Mrs. Jirka, and may the sun never set for you in our hearts.
